Text Solution

Photoelectric effect involves emission of electrons known as photoelectrons from the metal surface when light of suitable frequency illuminates this metal's surface. These emitted photoelectrons, when ejected from an emitter plate inside a glass tube by UV-radiations which are then attracted towards the collector plate by the electric field.
Thus, this electron flow through the glass tube results in flow of current.
This means, this effect involves conversion of light energy into electrical energy.
